Health Safety Environment and the Community

HSE

Tap embraces a philosophy, shared by all operating oil companies within Australia, "that all injuries and environmental incidents are preventable". Tap demonstrates this commitment with the unequivocal OSHE policy that states "Tap Oil's commitment to excellence in the areas of environmental, health and safety performance is an integral component of the Company's goals". Tap has an excellent record to date with safety of its people by incurring no lost time injuries in the past 12 months.

Community

Tap recognises the responsibilities and obligations of corporate citizenship. Maintaining and embracing the social and cultural environment we operate in is an important objective of Tap's corporate philosophy. Tap's stakeholders are diverse and include its shareholders, people who live where the Company operates, employees and contractors, government agencies and joint venture partners. Here is an example of Tap Oil working in the community by rebuilding a primary school in the Philippines.

Corporate Governance

Corporate governance is part of the company's responsibility to its shareholders and since its beginnings in 1996, Tap has embraced best practice in corporate governance. Tap was recognised for its efforts with the Ethical Investor Magazine Merit Award for Corporate Governance in 2003. This award recognised Tap's disclosure of Executive and Board remuneration in its 2003 Annual Report.

In summary, Tap is compliant with the ASX Best Practice Recommendations and only made relatively minor changes to be in compliance with recently proposed CLERP 9 recommendations. Tap's corporate governance measures are set out in detail in its annual reports.
